SCHOOL EXPERIENCE
The Nacel Open Door F-1 Public School Program, launched in 2016, is designed
for students seeking an academically-oriented experience at a U.S. public school.
Similar to the Private School Program, students participating can apply to a
school of their choosing, have the ability to earn school credits and possibly a high school diploma if they meet all graduation requirements. The schools participating in this
program are public, non-sectarian schools and limit students to a single year of attendance. After this time, if desired, a student may transfer his/her F-1 Visa to a private school to finish his/her studies in the USA. Within this program, host families are paid for hosting international students. In addition to a program fee and a homestay fee, students are required to pay tuition, which varies significantly based on the school’s location.
The budget is therefore higher than for the J-1 Public School program but this program allows students to design their experience based on their needs (in terms of school profiles and extracurricular activities) and regional preferences.
DESTINATIONS
Students may currently choose their preferred school in California. The Santa Barbara school district in California has three main public high schools for students to choose from. Students will no doubt enjoy the city and its wonderful seaside surroundings!
