The American Academy’s English as a Second Language Program is specially designed for international students. The Academy focuses on teaching students who want to use English in colleges, universities, business and daily life. Intensive English Program:
The Academy offers classes year-round in all areas of English as a Second Language. The ESL Program is composed of four levels, from Basic to Advanced, and covers all the language skills of reading/writing, speaking/listening, vocabulary building, grammar, and pronunciation. We also offer classes in learning English through American Film and American Music. Take part in monthly excursions and field trips.

Intensive ESL for Academic Purposes:
This program is designed to help you master the skills required to perform well in an English-speaking academic setting such as a college or university. This is an advanced integrated or mixed-skills course for the foreign student intending to transfer to a college or university in the United States.

Test Preparation Skills (TOEFL & TOEIC)
The Academy offers test preparation courses for the TOEFL and TOEIC. Courses provide comprehensive instruction and practice in all of the traditionally tested areas, including vocabulary, grammar, writing, speaking, reading, and listening comprehension. Review of what is traditionally on the exam, advice on strategy, and clear explanations of grammar points help students through the test preparation process.

Tuition chart:

  • Basic Literacy in ESL (ESL 100) -$550 for 4 weeks, $1500 for 12 weeks.
  • Basic Literacy in ESL (ESL 100) – $550 for 4 weeks, $1500 for 12 weeks.
  • Intermediate ESL (ESL 300) -$550 for 4 weeks, $1500 for 12 weeks.
  • Advanced ESL (ESL 400) -$550 for 4 weeks, $1500 for 12 weeks.
  • TOEFL Test Preparation Skills (ESL 500) -$550 for 4 weeks, $1500 for 12 weeks.
  • TOEIC Test Preparation Skills (ESL 600) -$550 for 4 weeks, $1500 for 12 weeks.
  • Intensive English as a Second Language (ESL) for Academic Purposes (ESL 700) -$1680 for 4 weeks, $4800 for 12 weeks.

 

Fees (non-refundable):

  • The Application Fee is $100.
  • International Courier Service (FedEx) is $90.
  • U.S. Domestic Courier Service (USPS) is $30.

* (ESL 100-600) Total tuition cost for a period of attendance of 24 weeks is $3000.
** (ESL 700) Regular total tuition cost for a period of attendance of 12 weeks is $6000. Promotional tuition cost of $4800 for 12 weeks or $1680 for 4 weeks is valid until 12/31/2020.

 

Residence Clubs:

Residence Clubs provide a more independent living setting in a dormitory-like environment, mostly with other international students. This is an ideal option for those visiting on a short to long-term basis. Reservations can be made by contacting them directly. If you require assistance with making a reservation, we can help.
Rooms include a bed, dresser, desk, and free internet. Weekly housekeeping service and daily complimentary continental breakfast are included. Certain locations also have a common kitchen for residents to cook and common areas for relaxation and studying.

 

Everything You Need to Know About Visas & Living in San Francisco:

F-1 Student Visa
Your visa is an official stamp or permits in your passport that allows you to travel for a specific purpose. Your purpose for traveling to the United States is to study English – so you need to apply for an F-1 Student Visa. You can obtain your visa from the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in your home country.

You will need to show them:

  • Your letter of acceptance from the Academy
  • Your U.S. immigration document
  • A bank statement to demonstrate sufficient funds to cover your tuition and living expenses while in the United States
  • You may also be asked to prove that you intend to return to your country after completing your studies.

 

Forms:

  • Application Form
  • I-134 Affidavit of Support Form – If you have someone to financially support you during your studies in the U.S. and that person is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, this form must be completed by the sponsor. It must be submitted with a financial statement, employment letter, or most recent income tax return.
  • Certificate of Sponsorship Form – If your sponsor is not a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, that person must complete this form to attest sponsorship. It must be submitted with a financial statement.
  • Transfer Form – For those students who are currently attending or formerly attended another U.S. institution and seek transfer to the American Academy of English, Section I must be completed. This form then must be submitted to the previous school official for completion of Section II.
