Requirements :
Students must be interviewed in their home country before being accepted on the program. Basic Russian or intermediate English language proficiency is required. Those with no knowledge of Russian can take a Russian course at a language school or with a private teacher.

SCHOOL EXPERIENCE
This program gives international students the opportunity to know Russia, its culture and way of life. Students live with a Russian host family and participate in family life and
activities. They attend a Russian high school during several months. The primary purpose of the program is to improve the student’s knowledge of Russian culture and language through active participation in family, school and community life. Students must show academic motivation, overall health, and ability to adapt and to take advantage of living and studying in Russia. Although a high level of Russian is not required, it is necessary to be highly motivated and able to adjust. A 50 hour Russian course is already included in the program and take place at the beginning of the program.
SCHOOL SYSTEM
General education in Russia has three stages: four years of primary education; five years of basic general education and two to three years of secondary education (a total of 11 years). Secondary education in Russia includes the following types of schools: gymnasiums, lyceums and ordinary schools. The first two are focused on preparing high school students for university. General education consists of 34 weeks of study per year and 27 to 36 hours of study per week. Most international students attend year 9, 10 or 11. The basic curriculum includes compulsory subjects such as Russian Language, Foreign Languages, Mathematics, History, Politics, Natural Sciences etc. The school year runs from the beginning of September to the end of May or mid-June. Graduation is not possible.
